The Boston Red Sox have certainly made themselves at home at Citizens Bank Park. Sure, they’ve split the first two contests – but they’ve also blasted seven homers in the process. After going deep four times in Saturday’s 7-5 triumph, Boston will vie for the series victory on Sunday when the teams wrap up their three-game set.

Manager Bobby Valentine got creative with his lineup, shifting Adrian Gonzalez to right field to enable David Ortiz to man first base. The defensive assignments worked without a hitch, and Ortiz blasted a mammoth two-run shot to power Boston to its seventh victory in nine outings. The setback snapped Philadelphia Phillies‘s season-best six-game winning streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox RH Josh Beckett (3-4, 4.97 ERA) vs. Phillies LH Cliff Lee (0-1, 1.95)
After being booed in his previous outing, Beckett righted the ship when he celebrated his 32nd birthday Tuesday. He scattered four hits and struck out a season-high nine over seven scoreless innings en route to a 5-0 triumph over Seattle. Beckett has won eight of 13 career decisions versus Philadelphia.
Lee was snake-bitten for the third straight start as he settled for yet another no-decision Tuesday. The southpaw allowed one run on five hits and struck out a season-high 10 over eight innings against Houston. The bullpen squandered the victory for Lee, but the Phillies posted a 4-3 triumph over the Astros. Lee is only 3-4 in his career versus Boston, but has registered a 1.21 WHIP and .232 batting average against.

1. Jarrod Saltalamacchia wasn’t going to let a lacerated ear keep him down. After receiving 12 stitches, Saltalamacchia followed rookie Will Middlebrooks’ lead to complete a back-to-back homer set in the fourth inning.
2. Mike Aviles was thought to be a defensive improvement at shortstop, but has also provided some significant power this season. Aviles homered for his second straight game on Saturday, but has only three singles in 18 career at-bats versus Lee.
3. Freddy Galvis is starting to become popular in Philadelphia – and with good reason. The rookie second baseman has homered in both games of the series, going 3-for-8 with three RBIs.
